LA FONCTION INVERSE
Définition 1: On appelle fonction inverse la fonction définie sur $\left]-\infty ; 0 \right[ \cup \left]0 ; +\infty \right[$ par $x \mapsto \dfrac{1}{x}$.
$\forall x \in \left]-\infty ; 0 \right[ \cup \left]0 ; +\infty \right[,\ -x \in \left]-\infty ; 0 \right[ \cup \left]0 ; +\infty \right[$ et $f(-x) = \dfrac{1}{-x} = -\dfrac{1}{x} = -f(x)$
donc $f$ est impaire.
Dérivée :
La fonction inverse $f$ est dérivable sur $\left]-\infty ; 0 \right[ \cup \left]0 ; +\infty \right[$ telle que $\forall x \in \left]-\infty ; 0 \right[ \cup \left]0 ; +\infty \right[,\ f'(x) = -\dfrac{1}{x^2}$.
Tableau de variation :
| $x$ |
$-\infty$
$0$
$+\infty$
|
| $f'(x)$ |
−
−
|
| $f(x)=\dfrac{1}{x}$ |
|
Propriété 1 : Soient $x_1$ et $x_2$ des réels non nuls ;
- $0 < x_1 < x_2 \implies \dfrac{1}{x_1} > \dfrac{1}{x_2} > 0$
- $x_1 < x_2 < 0 \implies 0 > \dfrac{1}{x_1} > \dfrac{1}{x_2}$
THE INVERSE FUNCTION
Definition 1: The inverse function is the function defined on $\left]-\infty ; 0 \right[ \cup \left]0 ; +\infty \right[$ by $x \mapsto \dfrac{1}{x}$.
Study of the function $f : x \mapsto \dfrac{1}{x}$
Parity:
$\forall x \in \left]-\infty ; 0 \right[ \cup \left]0 ; +\infty \right[,\ -x \in \left]-\infty ; 0 \right[ \cup \left]0 ; +\infty \right[$ and $f(-x) = \dfrac{1}{-x} = -\dfrac{1}{x} = -f(x)$
thus $f$ is odd.
Derivative:
The inverse function $f$ is differentiable on $\left]-\infty ; 0 \right[ \cup \left]0 ; +\infty \right[$ such that $\forall x \in \left]-\infty ; 0 \right[ \cup \left]0 ; +\infty \right[,\ f'(x) = -\dfrac{1}{x^2}$.
Variation table:
| $x$ |
$-\infty$
$0$
$+\infty$
|
| $f'(x)$ |
−
−
|
| $f(x)=\dfrac{1}{x}$ |
|
Graphical representation:
$f$ is odd, so its representative curve $\mathcal{C}_f$ is symmetric with respect to the origin.
Property 1: Let $x_1$ and $x_2$ be non-zero real numbers;
- $0 < x_1 < x_2 \implies \dfrac{1}{x_1} > \dfrac{1}{x_2} > 0$
- $x_1 < x_2 < 0 \implies 0 > \dfrac{1}{x_1} > \dfrac{1}{x_2}$
Proof:
It follows directly from the variation table of the inverse function.
Paridad:
$\forall x \in \left]-\infty ; 0 \right[ \cup \left]0 ; +\infty \right[,\ -x \in \left]-\infty ; 0 \right[ \cup \left]0 ; +\infty \right[$ y $f(-x) = \dfrac{1}{-x} = -\dfrac{1}{x} = -f(x)$
por lo tanto $f$ es impar.
Derivada:
La función inversa $f$ es derivable en $\left]-\infty ; 0 \right[ \cup \left]0 ; +\infty \right[$ de modo que $\forall x \in \left]-\infty ; 0 \right[ \cup \left]0 ; +\infty \right[,\ f'(x) = -\dfrac{1}{x^2}$.
Tabla de variación:
| $x$ |
$-\infty$
$0$
$+\infty$
|
| $f'(x)$ |
−
−
|
| $f(x)=\dfrac{1}{x}$ |
|
Propiedad 1: Sean $x_1$ y $x_2$ números reales no nulos;
- $0 < x_1 < x_2 \implies \dfrac{1}{x_1} > \dfrac{1}{x_2} > 0$
- $x_1 < x_2 < 0 \implies 0 > \dfrac{1}{x_1} > \dfrac{1}{x_2}$
